Chinese rug

The classification of rugs depends upon the rec­ognition of certain technical peculiarities that they possess.

These peculiarities make it possible to place the rugs in a certain period of time with con­siderable accuracy.

Chinese rugs are recognizable by characteristic designs, chief of these being mythological, natu­ralistic and geometric, and they have been copied through the centuries. Some of the rugs have archaic dragons in the corners and borders.

Others show books, lutes, chessboards, scrolls, and the significant peach, pomegranate, and other fruit.
